Allah? "The Muslim God"

Assalaamu alaikum, peace be upon you!

He is the sovereign, the holy one, the source of peace and perfection, the guardian of faith, the preserver of safety, the exalted in might, the irrisistible, the supreme, Glory be to him (high is he) above the partneners they attribute to him.

He is the creator, the evolver, the bestower of forms (or colors). To him belong the most beautiful names! You might wonder who I am talking about here..its none other but the Lord of all creation. These are names and attributes He gives himself in his glorious book. He indeed is the most knowing!

There is this misconception that muslims have their "own" God different than that of Jews and Christians. However, this is incorrect and false because 'Allah' is simply the Arabic word for GOD. Muslims like Jews and Christians worship the God of Noah, Moses, Jesus, and Abraham (may peace be upon the all)....and in this let there be no doubt! However, the "concept" of God is different for all three religions. Muslims like Jews reject the Christian belief of the Divine incarnation and of course the trinity. This does not mean that the followers of each religion believe in three different Gods.....it just means that we have different views of the same God.

Its very important to note that Arabic speaking Jews and Christians also use the word "Allah" when they speak of God. This is beause the word "Allah" in Arabic is the same as the word God in English. Also, the word Allah cannot be pluralized and gendered which goes hand-in-hand with the Islamic concept of God.

The concept of God in Islam is summarized in just one tiny chapter of the Qur'an. This chapter is only 4 verses, but the message it carries is beyond powerful.  "Say: He is Allah, the one and only; Allah the eternal, absolute; He begetteth not, nor is He begotten; And there is none like unto Him" (112. 1-4).  This is  what Muslims believe of God, that there is only one abolute God without any partners. That Him alone belongs to the heavens and the earth and whats between them!

We should also note that there are some people out there who think that Muslims worship some Arabian God and that Islam does not have common roots with Christainity and Jewdaism just because we say "Allah". This is far from the truth and is similar to saying that Spanish-speaking people worship a different God just because they use the word "Dios" instead of God!

In the simplist monothiestic way, Allah is the one true God who created all beings. The first and the last, the most loving and the source of peace.
